Was again one of my saved places, when we decided to visit while searching for a good rosti place

Situated within minutes walk of Lavender MRT, this hidden gem is nested on the outside of Kitchener Complex. We opted for 2 mains and 1 side for our early dinner, and they have varying standards unfortunately.

Rosti 5
The original Rosti that we ordered was great, crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside - the egg that came with it tasted really good too!

Tater tots 5
Thought this was one of the better ones, though it could have been perfect if it’s not as “hard”, feels a little over cooked. That said, it has a tinge of truffle taste upon each bite, which is a welcome surprise for the innovative touch - though I’m not sure if it’s meant to be that way

Chilli crab pasta 3
The same can’t be said for the pasta, spaghetti was under cooked, rather tough by itself. And crab cake wasn’t at all tasty with the spices engulfing your palette with each bite.

All in all, I would return to try their other selection in the menu given that they do have a decent range of selection, and don’t charge GST nor service charge!

Pro tip: Get a 35% off voucher ($19.50 for $30) on Chope when you visit between 2.30pm and 4.30pm - as of time of ordering

After paying for my drink I was told that it is prohibited to read or study or work here during peak hours. It’s fine to have your own policy but it would be great if it’s explained to the customers before payment.

Wouldn’t have sat here if I knew this ahead of time and saved my $20. Would never come back here…

Good coffee, great service, immaculate music selection that adds to the chill vibes. Pretty empty on weekdays too!

A decent cafe with very reasonable price. Enjoyed the breakfast fennel rosti, it’s crispy and yet not oily. Capellini should be more al dente. Shashouka is tasty and good. Overall value for money. Will be back for the rosti!

The rosti was pretty good, about the same as marche. Overall, enjoyed the food but its a bit pricey.

Walk in to this restaurant but the staff turn me away because they not able to provide Trace Together Token scan. Not everyone use mobile app to scan in. Don't you have to be prepare for customer to use the token for scanning.

Oberstrasse, if you do not allow customers to use their tablets and laptops, please make it clear at the door or at point of order. You can have your house rules, but make the rules known so that customers can decide if they want to patronise.

Excellent eggs with roesti and bacon. Probably the best I've had in Singapore. Kudos to the chef.

5 stars for the thoughtfulness of the cashier! I've been to a few cafes lately, though maybe I've not ordered anything with eggs specifically, but she was the first one who suggested to help me change my sunny side up to well done as I'm preggy? Such a lovely first meal of the day! Hot latte (yes, I do drink coffee once in a while) tasted like med to dark roast which is my style, and the balance between milk and coffee was good. So I'm guessing the milk choice is creamy too if not the frothing was up to standard. Contemplated btn pasta and rosti, so cashier suggested rosti as it is for breakkie. Like previous reviewers, the rosti was crispy on the outside and not too oily. I believe they didn't put alot of (or any) salt or pepper of sort hence you could taste the original flavor of potato and hence the pairing of sour cream + egg + potato was very.original (in a good way) (can't find the most suitable word to describe). Definitely coming back to try the pasta I wanted too and will update the post again. Thanks for the lovely meal!

Good food, nice atmosphere, fair prices. Went there and we had the Bacon Mushroom Pasta and the Cajun Chicken Thigh. The food was really tasty and they provide cold water free of charge and mustard and Tabasco sauce. The place was a bit crowded and isn't that spacious, which is why I'm deducting 1 star. Would definitely recommend!

Order Crab cake Benedict & the Original Rosti. Crab Benedict is good, the crab patty is quite sizable and thick with good amount of crab flavour. The poached eggs are perfect and flowy and the hollandaise sauce is not too over powering. Best thing is that they do not charge additional gst & service charge so it is $18 nett. Quite worth the price for crab cakes.

Rosti was quite disappointing, had a slight burnt taste and it is actually unseasoned potatoes (unsalted). The taste is quite dependant on the sour cream for flavour.

I do highly recommend the crab cake Benedict, but do believe there are better Rosti elsewhere unless you like unsalted ones.

Went to Oberstrasse because Tolido's Espresso Nook was out of Rosti at that timing (3.30pm). But my craving for Rosti is not satisfied because the Rosti served was burnt, even on the under side. However, the service crew said that cheesy Rosti is like that. So basically there's burnt and bitter aftertaste on every bite. Rate 1/5 star for this.

The pasta was pretty good but not exceptionally amazing. Drinks acceptable.

The rosti is not oily at all. The sausage, on the other hand, was drenched in oil. Bacon was nice and not too hard. The coffee is decent.

Average cafe food. Expected more with prices. Flat white was the sour type which is not to our liking. Food selection is not bad. They have Rossi & sausages too.

A great brunch joint. Was there on a rainy Sunday, we had the rosti, waffles brekkie and crab cakes benedict along with salted caramel coffee. The food was fantastic and we had a great outdoor seat. Would definately be back to try the other dishes.

Back for the second time - quality of food very consistent. Runny scrambled eggs on crispy rosti. Mac and cheese was pretty good too and coffee was great! Friendly service staff

Great rosti, but what really left an impression was the staff. They were all so courteous and enthusiastic!

Oberstrasse is a lovely place graced with great ambience, service, latte art and food. Special mention to the plate of fine Rosti and Scramble egg - cooked to perfection.

Highly recommended!

On top of the food quality - which was top notch especially for the price - the customer service is unrivaled. Story is my wife ordered the waffle brekkie which comes with bacon which she doesn't eat. I asked for a swap to "salmon or mushrooms or whatever". The staff said (or so I heard) that they'll swap bacon out for salmon. I heard wrong. And it's my fault (also cos it's covid and everyone's masked so I can't lip read too). Staff meant "salad" which rhymes with salmon behind a mask. Still, totally my fault lol. They served the dish without salmon, and we asked why and then we realised our mistake. We apologized to them but they kept apologising to us (it was funny). And Instead of leaving it as it is, they came back with a plate of salmon slices, on the house.

You guys just made us feel so guilty but moved. Thank you. Your food is great and wife and I will be back within the month again to try the rest of your menu!

Your rosti is awesome! So's your coffee! See u soon.

This used to be one of my favorite cafes in Singapore, worth coming to for the flat white alone. However, they recently started implementing a no-laptops policy, which is absolutely ridiculous (especially when there are further seats available).

A time limit is fair (e.g. Max one hour during peak times) but it ruins the cafe experience to not be allowed to work at all, especially for those of us who just want to crank out a few emails in between errands.
