Davis Guitar Music Centre

I bought one Takamine guitar (Reasonably priced - $400 ~ $500 something I could not remember) a few years back.

But I keep on visiting this shop alone or with my friends quite a number of times trying out different guitars even though I did not end up buying.

I think the sales guys are super cool. They always greet you with a smile. Asked me which guitar I want to try out and explained the details patiently. They never force to sell the guitars.

This kind of service - treating customers with a respect will go a long way as they are building a loyal customer base.

I am thinking of getting another Takamine soon and even though I can buy it from other shops, I will definitely make the purchase from here.

Emailed the day before for an emergency setup. I was accommodated via email and the work was done the next day. Amazing communication throughout.
I also bought a guitar while in the store (Because they have a great selection!) I made them change the strings/do a setup before leaving the shop… Janet and the team are amazing! Nothing is too much trouble for them and I’m grateful!

Went to the shop today, and wanted to do setup for my guitar.the staff there was superb, skilful, Was told initially that i might only be able to collect it on next day as the shop was closing in an hour time. Nevertheless he did the assessment and on the spot he did the necessary adjustments for me. Done! Less than 5 min job! Tested and Was extremely satisfied of his tuning service & was only at a fraction of the initial quote of another shop.
Helpful, skilful and value for money. Strongly recommend to others!

Ram was very helpful and kind in advising me and my friends when we were choosing guitar gear! He has a lot of experience in his craft and i admire his skill and passion for guitar️ 10/10 recommend coming to davis to purchase guitars and gear!

Best place to get high quality gear. If you're looking for equipments to invest in with affordable prices, this place is the most recommended compared to all the music shops I've been to in Singapore. Salesperson are also friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable and always recommend the best options to suit your needs!

Came here to purchase a tenor ukulele bag, and ended up purchasing a soprano ukulele, thanks to the male Malay staff (could not get hold of his name), a very pleasant, skillful and friendly person. He made my experience at Davis Guitar a comfortable one.

I was greeted by Ram, and he seemed nice at first, but right after he felt that I wasn't going to purchase, he snatched the guitar back from me.
Honestly, I was 100% sure I was gonna purchase it cuz the guitar felt right and it's the colour I wanted.
However his attitude made me put the guitar back and walk right out of the shop. Anyways, I checked other websites and they are selling $50-$200 cheaper than Davis Guitar.
Ended up getting from another shop.
I also overheard Ram and the other people there ask a guy if he is going to purchase or not. If he doesn't want to purchase then he can't be in the shop.
Shocking.
Do not shop there unless you want to be greeted with a fake smile that has a timer of about 3 minutes before it turns into a frown.

My son bought his guitar here. Followed him to get the guitar restrung. Am so amazed by the shop. Has a wide variety of guitars and accessories available. Instruments are well arranged. Great service.

Amazing experience when I'm buying my first guitar here. The staffs were very friendly, helpful and patient, giving me the best advice to decide on the guitar that suits me best. Very very happy with my purchase and will definitely come back if I need anything else!

Honestly, my experience with Davis Guitar was marvellous. In fact, that was my first time visiting the store too. That day, I was looking to buy an amplifier with my dad and the staff were so nice too. One staff was so down to earth in answering my dad’s questions and helped me trying to understand how the amplifier works. One staff told me to play the guitar to hear how the amp sounds. I got shy when I play and the staff just cheered me on anyways. Overall it was fun and enjoyable experience.

Ram provide very good service and have very good knowleadge.no force selling. Recommend guitars according to whatever you need. Denifinetly recommend.

6 Dec 2021 Issue fixed. I topped up to upgrade without depreciation the earlier guitar that had a faulty tuner. Janet was lovely in following up and assisting.
The shop did not request me to amend the earlier post which I found professional.
I choose to update the post and rating to be fair to the shop since the issue is fixed.
Apart from the unusual and unfortunate episode of encountering a faulty tuner on the earlier guitar which took a long time to proof, the shop does have a wide range of guitar selections and price range for players of all levels.
Staff provide good recommendation on size and types. Avoid peak hours if you need attention or recommend I guess.
Will go back the shop again for future pieces

Buyers be ware!
This is October 2021. I was referred to this shop by guitar coach. Bought a guitar in August same year, in less than two months have came back 5 times because tuner spoilt - drain battery in less than a week!
On the 4th repair visit they offered an option to upgrade. I didn’t mind topping up the difference which was already is more than double of the one first bought. But the TERRIBLE & Absurd condition was that they will take in the one that they sold me that came with a faulty tuner at a 30% dropped. This is ridiculous because I didn’t ask for an upgrade, they offer because the one they sold to me was faulty and yet they shamelessly want to take in at a 30% dropped earning the extra on top of the extra I’ll have to pay for upgrade!

I owned a few Gibson customs and now wanted to add PRS on my collection. But staff here look down on me like i can't afford their cheap guitars. Haha. Don't waste your time going to this place. If you want to buy guitars go to swee lee.

Got a guitar from here and service was great! The staff introduced the different wood options and the sound of each guitar.

Staff were not pushy and genuine to explain the different price points and product quality. Superb service and would highly reccomend to anyone who is looking to get a guitar here. Cheers!

This is the place to go for PRS and ESP guitars.

While the music shop district in the basement of Excelsior Shopping Centre has got progressively more crowded and competitive over the years, Davis Guitar continues to improve and stay relevant.

Once the place for budget-conscious teenagers to try Samick and Vantage guitars (hands up if you remember those days), Davis has evolved with the times (and the market’s appetite for gear) to carry more premium guitar, effects and guitar parts brands.

The online portal interface feels like a work in progress compared to some of their competitors, but customer service is excellent (shout out lady boss Janet) and shipping is crazy fast.

I’ve been shopping at Davis since the late nineties, and will continue to do so for many more years to come. Cheers to them!

I’m returning to playing the guitar after career focus and family commitments. Honestly I kinda knew what I wanted and I searched Davis guitar and within 24 hours I have my guitar (descriptions were good and ease of navigation online and speed of reply).
