Yam Mee 炎成潮州鱼圆面 Teochew Fishball Noodles reviews
49Popular Noodles which is good. Portion good if L size. The curry version also good. Highly recommended if you are at Kovan station area.
Ordered Fishball Noodles Dry Mee Pok ($5.50) Noodles nicely cooked with lots of ingredients like fishballs, minced pork, mushrooms, porkball, fishcakes and ngoh hiang. Fishballs and ngoh hiang are tasty. Be prepared for a long queue during peak hours and weekends but aunties service quite fast. Is a hawker Centre so prepare for the crowd during peak hours and weekends.
Pretty decent Teochew fishball meepok but the aunty had forgotten to put in bean sprouts. Eventhough I had asked for extra chilli, black vinegar and pork lards bits or chunks, I was only given sufficient pork lard chunks but not enough black vinegar and chilli paste. Overall the service was great by the young lady infront of the stall. She will help the older folks by bringing the noodles to their table and such service and gestures is worth applauding and singled out for praise! Will go back and try the laksa.
Ordered fishball noodle for $4.50. Received something I would call mince meat noodle.
Pro
Noodle. Reasonably Q. But above average on the tasty scale. Vinegary.
Chili soya. Chili padi being used. Shiok
Meatball. Does it job tasty.
Meh
Fishball not very Q at all.
Fish cake. On tougher side
Soup. Average.
Con
Where got dry fishball noodle fishball with noodle rather than soup one.
Like if agree.
Ordered large bcm (mee pok) and large laksa. Value for money when you’re paying 5.50 each. Laksa was very creamy. Bcm is pretty decent as well, nothing to complain about.
Prepared to queue! The noodles texture was great and its flavours were tasty! Wanted to try the curry noodles but it was sold out early.
Yummy laksa…the soup is thick & flavoursome! Can tell that they spent effort in making the soup. Worth paying $1.50 to add the “Tau Kee” (beancurd skin with fish paste), soak up the laksa soup. Will come back to try the chicken laksa
The fishballs kway teow/meepok ta is good with all the traditional ingredients like barchor and fish dumpling. Unlike nowadays, the new era seller tend to separate the ingredients or add extra fee. This is the traditional one. For the laksa, too bad taupoo sold out so they add fishballs. Their chill paste must try!
Long queue but moves fast, ordered meepok non spicy, came with a lot ketchup. Taste is good and simple.
Will be back to try laksa.
Be prepared for the queue even during non peak hours. No matter which you choose - BCM, laksa, curry chicken noodles, all options are equally delicious! Recommended to try their laksa/curry chicken (if it's not sold out yet!)
Authentic Teochew style noodles with dark vinegar and fried pork lard. I always order the $5.50 (Mee Poh) big bowl because want to eat must eat until shiok mah. They have 2 stalls side by side, with 2 friendly aunties taking orders and 2 person cooking. Talking of efficiency. So the queue might be one of the (two) longest in the whole hawker center but actually you get your food pretty fast after ordering. Also managed to try the Laksa noodles too (Big Bowl). The Laksa gravy are heavenly. I finish every single drop of it.
Would give zero stars if I could. My friends and I had the fishball noodle dry with more chilli on saturday, 3 December 2022. We ordered takeaway and consumed the noodles 15 mins later.
That very night, I started puking non-stop, throwing up bile from 1am till 9am. Saw a doctor, diagnosed with stomach flu mc 3 days. My two friends has an intense stomachache that night, I got it the worse.
Would have made a police report if I could. Any similar incidents? First and last time at this unhygienic place.
3.5 stars
Don’t be alarmed by the long queue, they cook noodles real fast as they have 2 person cooking most of the time, so the queuing time cuts by half. The service is good.
The noodles are of smaller servings compared to average and it tasted really good on first bite, but it could get abit too oily towards the end. The fishballs and soup are nothing special.
My regular stall for laksa. A generous portion for $4. The spicy and creamy texture is just right for me. Come at off-peak hours to avoid the long queues. They use lala in place of cockles these days.

This stall has been serving delicious bowls of teochew fishball noodle, minced pork noodles, kway teow soup, Laksa & curry chicken noodles for the residents in the hougang area for many years, certainly not be missed if you're nearby!
Amazing laksa and the taupok was incredible. While queuing and based on my personal experience, the aunties were really nice and friendly to every patron. Highly recommended if you’re willing to brave the long queue!
Yam-Mee is indeed Yummy!
There is always queue at this stall. The authentic Teochew mee and fragrant laksa are delicious. The stall helpers are very friendly.
The only setback is that they do not allow top-up of cockles and taopok in the laksa.
This is a traditional long time stall sell teochew fish ball mee. Like the fish ball smooth taste with mee gia noodles.
My goto stall for bak chor mee in Kovan. Queue move fast as there are 2 persons preparing the order.
