Very quick and efficient place.exactly as described in the Netflix Steet Food Asia documentary. I got the regular Putu Piring and it was good.although I didn't get to see Ayesha.

Prices are quite stiff for snacks like Putu Piring but you can't find these snacks easily nowadays.

Our place to go for putu piring. Reasonable price 4 pieces $2.5 and they use a self service cash machine which makes the process efficient and hygienic. Highly recommended.

Sadly, this is so different from the market stall I always patronise! The melaka was hard and clumpy, the flour not steamed enough. I'm so disappointed.

Date of visit: Sat 26 Aug 2023
Time: 3 pm

Came here for a revisit.
Price has gone up. $2.50 for 4.
Customer service Attitude is still soso.

Date of visit: 30 Dec 2022
Time: 9.30 pm

One packet of 5 costs $2.50.

Coconut shavings are good so is the gula melaka and the cake, it’s soft.

Nice local pastry that has queue. Freshly made.

Getting expensive pricing for flour and coconut and gula Melaka pastry.

Still able to draw a nice crowd as it’s popular and freshly made.

Overall worth a buy if in the vicinity

Enjoyed this tasty putu piring. The young man who made it today is very neat and hygienic. Would just feedback that when the new box packaging that is used, it is not so easy to grab the putu piring out of the box. Prefer the previous brown paper that's used.

Update on 10 June 2023.
Price gone up post-covid to 4 pcs for $3.50. Over-rated and rather expensive. Flour is too soft, and filling is too little.definitely not worth paying $3.50 for 4 pcs of miserable putu piring!

Ordered putu piring and fish crackers for mother's day. As the fish crackers were missed out in the delivery, they immediately arranged for a second delivery. For the second delivery the shop gave extra putu piring and kueh. Extremely impressed with the service recovery, highly recommended! Haig road putu piring is the best!

First off, the opening hours are wrong.

We showed up at 10: 30am, but the lady said they open at 11am. We hung around and came back at 11: 02, and then again said she’s not opened and left it at that. When I decided to actually ask what time she will be opened, she just looked at the clock and told us 11: 15am.

We didn’t end up waiting again because principal matters and the unapologetic attitude wasn’t worth our time and effort.

Malay version of Tu Tu kueh. Filled with good amount of gula melaka and a lot of grated coconut that comes along with it.
Soft, fluffy, moist and chewy. They are freshly made and steam on the spot, best eaten while it's hot.
One of the favourite snack not to miss when you are there.

Came here after watching the Netflix documentary like most people.
The taste is definitely worth the hype and this is definitely a must-visit place for anyone with a sweet tooth.
They seem to have a few other outlets in nearby food centres with less crowds and the price perhaps a little cheaper. But I cannot say if the experience there would be the same.

This hawker was featured on Netflix Street Food. The Putu piring lives up to the hype. I’ve had many rice cakes and this is one of the most unique ones I’ve had. The main ingredients are steamed rice flour, coconut shavings and palm sugar. The steamed rice cakes were delicious. Definitely worth going out of the way for. It’s also a 900 meter walk from the colorful Koon Seng Road, so if you’re in the area you should eat here.

Amazing! The sweet and salty flavors of this dish were incredible. The palm sugar creates an almost caramel sauce in the center. Highly highly recommend!

Tried this for the first time yesterday - it was very airy and fluffy with a decent amount of gula melaka. I’d have it again if I was in the area but perhaps might not make a trip specially to get it. I kind of expected it to be super amazing given the hype and coverage but personally feel there’s a couple of other shops out there that also sell putu piring of similar standard

Located at the front of the Mr Teh Tarik. There is usually a line but it moves very quickly. Freshly made putu piring, very delicious, eat it warm while the filling is melted. Available flavours vary by day.

I am very disappointed and angry with the staff at Century Square outlet. It's not my first time being rejected with the same makcik when everytime i wanted to order chocolate putu piring she will give an attitude by saying have to wait coz its long or she will reply chocolate? With unhappy face. The worst that happened was yesterday (27/08 4pm) when i came to order chocolate putu piring again, they were having lunch and told me chocolate have to wait and to come back at 430pm as they are having their break. Like why exactly you put Chocolate in the menu when your staff is unwilling to sell it to your customers? And because of that it turns me off and i don't even want to wait or eat it anymore from this shop because of this attitude given by your staff. Pls educate this makcik to stop rejecting the customers when we want to order chocolate from the menu given. If she don't want to do chocolate, just remove it from the menu. I hope when I come back this attitude will change.

The main stall at Geylang Serai was closed for cleaning so we went across the road to this.

Unfortunately, the putu piring was pre-packed in a box and kept heated. As a result, the items became mushy and dried out too, and all clumped together. Not the best we have had from them. They also only had the gula melaka version.

Payment and getting change is via the machine, which is more hygenic.

A very small store run so efficiently by a group of ladies working in an assembly line. Orders are taken through a machine, like an ATM machine. Based on the order the putus get packed. Each packet has 5 small putus that are packed tight to form a rice cake, to say so. It's served along with coconut and gula melaka or palm sugar. Definitely worth a try, given that this store was featured on Netflix, the store also has a board mentioning the same.

I would also like to note here that I wasn't a fan of putu puring and I was quite disappointed with the taste and texture of it. This is solely because I grew up in Southern India where putu, is a stable breakfast dish. And putu puring is nowhere near that in taste. Coconut shavings that were served along didn't taste quite fresh and had a salty taste to it, that's not how fresh coconut would taste. Texture wise it was tightly packed to form a rice cake so that was also something that I didn't expect to see.
