The Book Cafe reviews
45The coffee tasted great. The cake was a bit sweet. The surroundings was cosy and nice. It is a bit expensive though
Egg Omelette (SGD $15.95) @ The Book Cafe.
.
Since June 2000, this quiet café has been delighting those in the know - serving as an "alternate living room", suitable for reading, meetings, gaming, grazing, or catching up with family or friends.
.
As many have claimed; there is a lot to like about this place. Ambience is cozy, classy, and comfortable. Service is friendly, professional, and caring. Food is well-executed, delicious, and reasonably priced.
.
Here, 3 free-range eggs were folded with my choice of ham and tomato. The egg omelette is fluffy and tender and juicy, with pleasant eggy savoury salty sweet flavour.
.
Served with crisp toasted buttered white bread with smoky bready buttery savoury sweet flavour, and juicy grilled cherry tomatoes which are nicely smoky vegetal sweet in taste.
.
Loved the crisp potato rosti, which held starchy salty savoury sweet flavour, yum.

Hot Chocolate (SGD $8.50) @ The Book Cafe.
.
Opened in June 2000 by Thomas Wong and Shirley Soh, this chill cafe is a great space to read and reflect.
.
Their rendition is topped with fluffy soft marshmallows, while the drinking chocolate has a milky thin texture rather like the Australian style, and chocolatey milky sweet flavour.

The frothy foam head is the largest yet.
Great dog friendly breakfast spot. Outdoor seating had overhead fans for nice air movement.
Love this cafe! We’ve travelled extensively this year - and without doubt this cafe is a favourite- perfect tea, coffee and real breakfast!
Pleasant experience. Not as quiet as I thought, but the location is nice for a long chat.
Ordered hot chocolate with marshmallow - great rich taste. Great service and selection of seating as well.
Note: lactose free options available.
“City life, apple pie baked just right” - Lizzy McAlpine
This phenomenal apple pie brought me right back 10 years or so, when I used to bake with my mother. Thank you for the memories.
A nice place to chill and have a nice day. Air conditioning is good and books are provided to read. Nicely categorised into various genres for you to find an interesting title to read. The food is great and the staff are friendly. I would highly recommend a visit if you have time to spare.
Relaxing space, steak was ok. (ordered medium rare, got almost well done, but still ok, so decided to not say anything) the potato were great. Other than that, a good place to while time away. And touch some books.
Look for a place with free wifi and sockets to do work, found this cafe. Went there on Monday at 10am. The cafe is quiet and only few patrons. Ordered their Egg Benedict with Rosti ($19.95) and Americano. Decent food. The eggs are done well with the yolks still runny. The rosti is a little too oily for me. Like their Americano as it is a strong brew (order one with 3 shots). I am glad that they allow me to use my own cup to keep my coffee warm for a longer time. Every table has a pair of power sockets. Went back on Tuesday again but this time most tables in front of the counter are taken. Tried their pancakes with scramble eggs and bacon ($15.95). The pancakes are fluffy but the serving is small for the price. If it comes with banana or one more piece of pancake will be perfect. I was given uninterrupted time to do my work and the surrounding is quiet enough even for conference call. Will definitely come back again.
A unique cosy cafe with many books for customers to read! Quite a conducive place to read and study, the food is also great. Staffs are friendly and helpful too. The sofas are very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay here.
My family and I have been hanging around the book cafe since last year. The place is quiet and everyone that comes here seems to know about the cafe. I am glad that this place serves great coffee and food too. Highly recommended.
Nice breakfast, nice service. Ordered a macchiato, it was so small, just be aware, otherwise, everything was good.
We like the ambiences, also the brunch menu served on whole day, highly recommend their olive fried rice, the rice with olive vege perfect match. Will come back again
Despite being on the pricier side, we thought this place was incredible value for money. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was stupendous - perfectly cooked eggs with golden yolks and fantastic smoked salmon. Even the drinks were 5 star. Highly recommend!
Just tried Egg & avocado burger, French fries and fresh juice here.
Especially, French fries are very nice! ️
I want to try another drinks and foods.
Great place to have breakfast and have coffee/tea. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to SY for friendly and professional service
We went for Sunday lunch. It was very crowd when we arrived and waited for a while to sit down. After sent the order we waited for 40min to have the first plate of food. This waiting time is not acceptable for a cafe. Staffs are not friendly and let me feel I’m not welcomed.
The cafe and food is good. But the service is on the low side.
Service is outstanding.
The place provides plugs for those who bring laptop. Perfect for working.
Love the quiet environment.
Drink and bakery I ordered is so-so.
Their coffee is super expensive and tastes really bad.
$8 for an iced black coffee that tastes stale and disgusting is a daylight robbery.
This place is such a gem, and we were so grateful to find it by chance during our visit to Singapore! We enjoyed a scenic stroll along the river to get here, and found this eclectic little cafe tucked away. The ambience is delightful, as is the food! All-day breakfast will always win you brownie points, in my book. The coffee is bursting with flavor, the fruit is perfectly ripe, the croissants are impossibly flaky, and everything is delivered with kindness.
