Tan Ser Seng Herbs Restaurant reviews
24Xueying saw me taking medicine and took the initiative to help me. Not only the food here is delicious, but the attitude of the waiters is also really good. Thank you. I will come here often.
Best employee ever, Katie

Black chicken soup is a must order
Had the black ginseng chicken and white cordyceps chicken. Soup with v thick, strong, flavourful, really enjoyed it. Was piping hot, plenty of white chicken. But my friend wished there was more black chicken. Is a shophouse, we sat indoors where there is fan. Soups are $15 each, which is pricey compared to over places selling herbal chicken.
Ordered chicken cordyceps soup with a bowl of rice. Generous portions of chicken meat, soup tasted delightful, although if one were after something that had a stronger herbal flavour profile, I'd order the black chicken soup.
Staff were attentive, polite and respectful. There were multiple fans in the shop and it went a long way to combat the Singapore heat/ humidity.
We ordered two soups:
1) the “turtle” soup
2) the chicken soup
3) fried jade “tofu”
4) yam rice
The soups very thick and very nice!
The yam rice is a bit disappointed, because I ate before some other taste better.
However, overall very delicious…
Will go again next time to try their claypot turtle. I think should be very good.
Turtle soup is the best. Everything else doesn't matter, as the place is hot, service is as is. Other menus are also good. Now getting much more expensive.
$55 for medium size soup, gst isn't included in menu. Soup was ok, could do with some XO sauce like Tai Seng's version
Very hard to find parking lot. Please don't come 45min before closing time. All chicken soup sold out. Staff will only allow you to sit outside despite ample seats inside. They will hurry you to order as they are more keen on cleaning the shop and knocking off.
Been coming in for years and the soups have more or less remained consistent. We’ve been even taking out of town visitors looking for more adventurous local cuisine and they’ve all loved the turtle soup!
The fish maw and chicken soups are also recommended. Portions aren’t large, but given the quality and the richness of each soup, it’s still value for money compared to similar fare in a proper restaurant setting.
If you’re keen to try, add a shot or two of cognac to the turtle soup (you might notice a few regulars doing so) - it adds yet another delightful dimension to an already fantastic dish.
The food is good but I feel the Potong Pasir one is better tasting. This is slightly cheaper but there is no AirCon.
Would recommend getting every soup, each one is a treat for the senses!
Only the turtle soup can be refilled, the rest cannot.
Ordered takeaway through ODDLE and it was delivered quickly.
I ordered Claypot Shanrui for 4 people. The packaging this time has become more delicate, but the portion has become smaller. The soup is still very good, but this time the meat and skin are very tough, probably not cooked for long enough. I hope the boss sees this message and pays more attention to quality control.
Good place for some herbal soups. Shouldn't have charged service charge of 10% for a place with no air-condition and claypot serving is expected. However, overall service from the staff was friendly and courteous.
My parents have visited them for over 20 years. Started since the price was $9 for a bowl. Now it has become $14. I ordered dabao, and God was I so disappointed. Its a small dabao plastic bowl that barely contains much ingredients. Quite shocked to be honest how it has turned out to be. Yes the taste is still there, somehow. Buy that price to content ratio. Seriously.
It's a very busy outlet with waiters dashing dangerously.
The turtle soup tastes great and good.
But they are not consistent in their orders even after repeats. However they are very obliging.can be crowded at times.
Come here early for turtle soup and eggs which get sold out by late afternoon depending on supplies. Must eat for guys. Chilli is good!
If you are not aware, this place serves turtle soup and other herbal soups. We ordered the 2nd size claypot turtle soup, vegs, prawn balls for 3 pax which was just nice. Note that you can ask for one time free soup top up, which comes in a bowl that can be poured into your soup bowl. You can also asked to not have certain parts in your soup, just let the staff know accordingly.
I’ve been their customer almost for 20 years. And their soup standard never fail! Now I’ve heard current running owner already passes down to their third generation! So proud to know that there are still these practices inherited within the family In Singapore, just like the Japanese or Italians way of life!
Delicious Best Turtle soup n also b/w chicken herbal soups, delicious n tasty also fair pricing. Service is excellent even for takeaway or takeout- not snobbish n will entertain requests- nice staff n boss too. Definitely will recommend them for those who love herbal soups.try the hot pot turtle soup at $24/ - worthwhile n yummy yes the chilli is so tasty too.
We have our turtle tonic 2 to 3 times a month.
It's nourish us and yet it's not over heating.
Just nice enjoying the yam rice and sweat it out with the fantastic turtle broth.
You will not be over nourished or overpowered by the superb soup.
Carry on Makan.
