Public Transport Council

I as a local chinese man in singapore society wish the public bus and train fares will not increase this year.at this present time, the standard of living in singapore society is sky-high.if such fares increases, my personal bank account might become a city, province in a country with drought disaster.public bus and train fares must be free of charge to every local citizens and foreigners.

Increase fares when local inflation going up sharply and oil prices dropping.

Will increase my number of stars by 2c every year, eventually it'll reach 5 stars just like how our fares have been increasing year on year while smrt posts record profits.

Has anyone question this council.why listed public bus company claim bus fee is making a loss and seek for fees to be increased and this council agrees and support the motion, while still able to issue dividend to it respective shareholders and take government $$ to buy buses?

Gives us the "best" Xmas/year end presents by raising fares every so often. Increase fares regardless of situation. Makes Ebenezer Scrooge proud.

Oil prices go up, fares go up, oil prices go down, fares still go up. What do we need them for?

An agency whose justification of its own existence to help make transport fares affordable is just a sorry excuse to keep public transport operators profitable at the expense of the commuters.

Public transport as a public service should be provided cheap or even free and the cost should be borne by progressive taxes to level the playing field for low income earners to climb up the social ladder.

In Singapore, we have it reversed with commoners paying bulk of taxes through GST and high income earners getting subsidies from government transfers through business grants and tax rebates.
