Paofan Paradise 泡饭天-T.K Kitchen reviews
21The crab Pao fan here is good. Other recommended dishes are Ipoh Hor fun & their signature dish, red wine Por ribs. The La Zi chicken was however a let down. I think the quality of the food has come down recently.
Used to be my go-to place for hearty and soulful good food. Remember the paofan to be full of flavour with the nice wokhey of the fried rice.
Went down today to complete disappointment, found it weird that it was almost empty on Public Holiday during peak dinner time around 7pm (used to have long queues). Ordered the usual flower crab and herbal chicken and completely understood why now this is a dead establishment.
Paofan came out surprisingly quick (within 10mins of ordering) however we were greeted with a mountain of mushy rice and the soup was warm at best. Felt like it was premade and kept for a long time and soup did not even bother to heat up. Used to have good ratio of fried rice to ingredients but right now it's just a pile mushy rice with barely any ingredients, prawns were cold and dry (no even powdery, can only wonder how long ago it was precooked). There was so much rice that all the soup was immediately dried up, ask the staff to top up soup as it was starting to burn at the bottom and they kept asking us to wait. After about 10mins the soup was still not topped up and the staff came back with the bill asking us to pay first (while we were still eating). When we reminded her to top up the soup again she blatantly ignored and read out the bill again. When ĺ
Bottomline is, never returning here ever again. Mushy paofan like half cooked porridge as best with no flavour. Bad service, staff attitude is appaling. DO NOT RECOMMEND, you can get better paofan at hawkers for $10 a portion instead of paying for this overpriced half cooked porridge that has no flavour except MSG taste.
DO NOT PATRONISE
Tried most zhi char dishes except for their pao fan. So high chance is good too. Can try their cai pu tofu, red wine ribs and stir fry french bean. Goes well with rice
Call in on 23 Dec to place an order for pick up on 25 Dec at 430pm and also call back again to make sure that our order and details are noted down. When we went to pick up the food on day, was told that they didn't received our order. We were shocked and disappointed. After some discussion, the skinny and dark complexion lady remembered she did took out orders but cannot remember what we ordered. Basically we have to reorder and waited another 20mins for them to prepare the foods. It was really disappointing and throughout the whole ordeal there was no apology at all!
Called in on 23 Dec to place an order for pick up on 25 Dec at 430pm and also call back again to make sure that our order and details are noted down. Staff very confidently said "I don't need you name and mobile dont worry, I have your number from the caller-ID. Even repeated and confirmed the 5 dishes over the phone.
When we went to pick up the food on 25 Dec itself, was told that they didn't received our order. We were shocked and disappointed. After some discussion, the petite and dark complexion lady with specs remembered she did take our orders but cannot remember what we ordered and can't find the 5 dishes that she previously written and went through with me. She did not even apologise and even wanted to push the blame to her other colleague.
Basically, we have to reorder and wait for another 20mins for them to prepare the foods when we were told to come at 430pm for collection. It was really disappointing and throughout the whole ordeal there was no apology at all!
No matter how delicious the food is, the entire experience has been ruined. It seems like you guys don't appreciate business so there is no point in supporting the brand anymore.
Ginseng chicken paofan $35
1 slow cooked chicken, fried rice in a claypot of herbal ingredients.
Good for 3pax tho advertised for 2
Best shared with >2 pax and order side dishes such as red wine pork ribs and daily specials.
Taste: 8/10 Chicken breast is slightly dry but otherwise the flavour is pretty alright. Mild ginseng taste. Love the variety of mushrooms in it!
Cost: $38 (3-4 pax)
Waiting time: 10 mins on Saturday 1230pm
Overall: Will come back to try the flower crab paofan
Ordered flower crab paofan ($38) and prawn paste chicken ($12). Good tasting broth for paofan and generous amount of chicken for chicken.
Some downside is the seafood ingredients are not fresh, prawn is so rubbery. Also very costly at $38. Good to try but don’t think I’ll be back soon as I think they’re many paofan that are cheaper with better ingredients in the food scene now.
So ridiculous! Went down today around 5pm. Whole coffeehouse is empty. Ordered the flower crab Pao Fan. Waited for 30mins and decided to ask why takes so long since it's empty. End up, the kitchen forgotten about my orders. Cancelled the order and left. When I walk in too see the kitchen, they were busy. Busy talking to each other only. Will not patron here anymore.
Had trouble locating as we were looking for big logo paodan something. It’s actually tucked inside a corner coffee shop under Blk 37, TK zhichar stall. One bowl can serve 2 to 3 pax. Tried the flower crab, we like the taste
Ordered the xo fish and flower crab Pao fan for takeaway. Flower crab soup was nicer bec it wasn’t as thick as the fish one. I think not enough xo to balance out the strong flavour, so was quite gelat after a few mouthfuls. High price tag, but there was lots of fresh ingredients
Delicioussss stuff man! The ginseng chicken pao fan, crab pao fan, the nestum squids and the marmite pork ribs. All are very on point. We were given clear instructions on how to heat it up since we did food delivery and it was satisfyingggg!
I had high expectations for this Tze Char stall after watching the review from a particular Popular YouTube channel. Partly true that the food was delicious and very affordable; however, the delectable meal fell short. Why? After the meal, I felt an urge to drink water, to me, it was a clear indication of MSG in the broth. My only suspicion rested on the Crab and Seafood Broth with rice. This dish was the only one that I slurped up huge amount of soup. Now, is MSG or Monosodium Glutamate bad for you? MSG is just a food enhancer found in many Chinese food. In the US, the FDA approved it as a food enhancer and classified it as safe for consumption despite many controversial issues. There are currently no definitive evidence to link MSG to any adverse reactions if consumed. However, as with all food allergies, some people are just more susceptible to it. I am just one of the few. In short, the food served in this Tze Char stall was generally tasty; it only fell short due to the use of MSG.
Super super good. Much more yummilicious than King Of Pao Fan.
Worth the travel to this part of Singapore to have this unforgettable meal.
Great Paofan on the west side. I tried the flowercrab paofan and the ginseng chicken, both were nice! Love their wine ribs as well, quite yummy! Rest of the dishes are hit or miss
Ordered the white pepper pig stomach chicken pao fan for $40.it came in a ceremic bowl and a whole chicken and a lot of pig stomach.there were also some ginseng provided, and i’m not sure if it was intentional… the first few mouths were really great because the broth is a little peppery with a tinge of ginseng… reminds me abit of korean ginseng chicken dish… when it first arrived, the crispy rice bits were really nice but halfway into the bowl, it was super duper gelat.and made me very thirsty.they only sell it in one size and would be great if there were smaller sizes so we can try other dishes.i saw others eating the crab seafood paofan and unless you want to get your hands dirty, it’ll be very messy.my only two gripes (hence minus two stars) - i find $40 a little bit too pricey for the bowl that we had…. And it felt like a rojak of ginseng chicken and pig stomach.might just be a mistake and they served it anyway.and second, the ambience/environment is not the cleanest, it’s filled with a lot of rowdy beer drinkers who are commingling amongst 3-4 tables with loud music blasting.because the coffee shop is small, the loud noise was really not pleasant for my meal.
Ordered the chicken & tripe pao fan. Cooked in ginseng topped with puffed rice. The portion is good for 3-4 people. Tried the fragrance chicken and stir fried vegetables also. Loved the food. If you are at the Pandan reservoir for exercise, you can easily end it here with a great meal.
Didn't know its so expensive at $47 bucks for the soup and rice. Its nice but I'm really not sure if I should pay so much for this.
Take away the XO Fish paofan. Very nice, & worth the $45 (+$1 for boxes). Has equivalent of a very fresh whole Ang-ko-li fish. Good for 4 full assembled portions.
Reasonable price. Boss is friendly. Coffeshop is rather rundown though. Some upgrading work needs to be done for better dining experience.
