Ocean Curry Fish Head reviews
73 One of the better tasting caifan stalls out there in my opinion. There is a large variety of dishes to choose from, though I must say the options skew heavily towards meat and seafood, with rather limited vegetable dishes to choose from.
Taste: I think they can rival the usual zichar stalls because most of the dishes are well cooked, ingredients are fresh and tasty.
If you're dining in, the curry fish head is a must try too.
Always a long queue at lunch but it moves fast.
Expected long queue during lunch hours since this is in Central Business District (CBD) area. Curry fish head has a very thick gravy but might not be spicy enough for those who like it spicy. There are other dishes that you can order to add. Did not have to wait long for food.
This place is a scam and dishonest; the china uncle especially is extremely STINGY. I received only a small serving of tofu (1 small tofu) and two small size prawns. When I asked for more portion, I was given five prawns and one side of vege but charged $10 (see picture attached). And despite that crazy price, I left unsatisfied and still hungry.
Good variety of dishes to choose from for Cai Fan (杂菜饭). Taste is not bad too. My goto place for 杂菜饭 in CBD.
Amazing food, great service. They even ask if you want fish head in your curry or only fillet. Highly recommended! Queuing is not avoidable during peek hours
Been eating the mixed rice here for years. The prices have gone up, but the food is always tasty.
The food served is really delicious but a bit pricey when it comes to Singapore-styled mixed rice stall. It could be the location, but I feel that the taste matches the price!
Busy local place with tables. The queue is for take away.curry fish head and loads of vegetarian options for a quick meal.
Very delicious curry fish head. They have a line of mixed rice dishes for you to go with the curry fish head. You can opt for the mixed rice only if you want. Ordering the curry fish head would allow you to secure a table for your group immediately. Mixed rice is slightly on the pricier side, generally costing $5+ to $9 depending on how many meat you selected. However, it is worth it for the taste and quality. Vegetables are freshly cooked unlike most of the other mixed rice you find outside. They have a fresh batch of vegetables at night too, which is not commonly found in other mixed rice places.
Ironically, despite the name of this place, I didn’t have the curry fish head. Instead I had a delicious plate of food from a wide selection on offer. Visited several times and it’s always a highlight in my Singapore food trails.
I didn't have the fish curry but the mixed rice was very average with inflated prices.
Coffeeshop experience. Curry fish is great, others like sweet and sour pork, omelette, kang kong portion is just normal. Prepare to have long queue and seats are limited if you are intending to eat there
Very good place for curry fish head or cai fan. The queue during lunch is long but move fast. Don’t forget to bring your tissue packet to chop table. Auntie and uncle will rush you if you’re too slow, so get with the program! Don’t be indecisive! Uncle ain’t got time for your sh@t.
One of my fav economic stall in CBD! Food is fresh & lots of variety! Highly recommend the curry fish & ikan billis! ️
Oooof that fish curry was EPIC. Make sure you get the spicy prawns and the sweet sour pork! Pure local vibe, loud, what else do you need?
Sadly now the ladies scoop so little. Last time for me to come by then. See you stingy place. It stinks!
Ocean Assam Curry Fish Head very shiok! Order 1 full fish head shared with a colleagues for lunch today. Brave through the rain and crowd to get a seat at this telok ayer coffee shop branch. Fish head served in claypot piping hot! Fresh fish head, curry gravy goes well with the plain white rice. Assam just nice, not too spicy, not too sour, lots of veg, make you mouth watering. At the end, nothing left of the fish head just bones. Will come again!
You know this place is good by the long queue. Even top executives at my company love their caifan. They have a huge variety and the quality of the dishes are really on point. If in a big group, can consider their curry fish head or curry fish meat which comes in a claypot. They also have good otah, and several nice dishes. Good to eat during lunch or after work.
Best fish head you can get in the city (and value for money too). If you don't want the head, you can get the slices. Their Squid, mutton, Calamari and salted egg prawns are amazing as well.
