Kok Sen Restaurant reviews
56Worth visiting, I was there about 5: 30pm. No queue but the place already packed. The service was great, friendly & helpful! Food was delicious & portions are quite big. No for dates, as the seating is a bit squeeze to accommodate more diners. Wide variety of food available.
Last year’s dinner for Winter Solstice. Food was just above average. Seems quite overrated considering they have a Bib Gourmand. The signature dish Golden Dragon chicken is a dish I order pretty frequently as I love it but the version here is pretty mediocre. The best tasting dish has to be the prawn Hor fun. We arrived pretty early for dinner and the place was pretty packed so they must be doing something right. *shrugs*
Food was good! Very big portions, so don’t over-order (like we did). Not many vegetarian options. One star deducted because they use one-time-plastic cups. I can’t understand that at all, in this day and age.
Shiokness in every delicious slurps of their Har Meen prawn noodles, soup and big, yes BIG juicy sweet fresh prawns! The soup isn’t any ordinary prawn noodles base, the taste is unique, with a punch of spiciness & har mai for you to chew. This shop has lived up to its Michelin star status. Will certainly be back to try out their other dishes. Saw my neighbour having the Crab Yong Tau Foo, I’ll certainly be back for it!
Food is good but the service is terrible. We just sit down for less one minute and they chasing us to order and say we can't take too long as too many ppls. The staffs are rude. Shouted at the customers.
Michelin-starred restaurant with 6 years of reputation. Singaporean local cuisine is similar to Cantonese cuisine.
Despite its reputation, it feels a bit lacking and slightly disappointing.
First of all, the queue was very long. We waited in line for about 40 minutes. Normally, it would take 30 minutes.
The ordering waiters are very nice and patiently help you introduce various dishes. The service in the middle was almost unsatisfactory, maybe the waiter was almost exhausted. There are always so many people. It was probably after 20 o'clock when there was no queue, but it was overcrowded.
I ordered both signature dishes and they tasted okay, not amazing. You can come and try it, there is no need to queue for a long time.
The worst thing is actually that there are too many people and it is very crowded and noisy. The quality of the food didn't offset this.
Ordered a delivery, and the taste was just average.so it's definitely not worth the price I am paying.there are other smaller zi char establishments that taste better and cheaper.
We love Tze Char places, had to queue 40 mins after we arrived around 530pm (Sat)
Been here once at their previous location further up the road. As usual, we ordered dishes we love, hor fun, chilli kangkong, bitter gourd w/sliced fish, Ngoh Hiang, yong tau foo, beef w/spring onions, roasted chicken + one big bottle Heineken
Voila only $150, for 5 of us, can’t be happier. Highly recommended for those who love tze char dishes anywhere anytime
Saucy goodness! My third visit here, and it was better than my last. Ordered the standard prawn horfun, new dishes today are yong toufu and braised fried fish and bittergourd in dark sauce.
I came early so avoided the long queue. Service is bare but efficient. Food consistency so so, but generally a better zicha than most!
Excellent food, service is not the best but it's to be expected. Definitely try the eggplant with minced meat claypot. Absolute perfection
The hor fan taste great but the prices of all the dishes here are rather high considering its ambience is like any old coffeeshops.
Ordered the yong tau foo and the prawn horfun. Horfun was delicious, with chopped chilli fried into the sauce, giving it a deliciois spiciness.
The ytf is delicious as well. Price is a bit steep but food is really pretty delicious.
Probably the top Cantonese cze char place in Singapore. Great value and stirling consistency.
Their prawn hor fan and claypot Yong Tau fu are really nice.
Been here for a few times, it's crowded and busy all the time. Their stir fried beef with spring onion and claypot Yong tau Fu are really delicious. It's a casual spot with affordable price
I had the best dinner here during my Singapore trip. Meat rolls and pork chop are my favourites! It's pretty crowded and busy but service is fast. I will definitely come back again
Can't believe this was my first time at kok sen. Everything we ordered was so good. The beef hor fun was full of flavour, egg foo yong tasty and sambal kangkong full of shrimp paste goodness. Only minus was the cuts of beef used for the hor fun was a little tough.
Service was very typical of what you would get at these old-school cantonese places so don't get turned off by this. These places are meant to get diners in and out quickly.
Prices pretty ok. Cost us slightly under $15/pax for 3 dishes and 2 cups of drink (iced barley).
Very good Zi Char place. Prawn Hor fun (small$16) is really really good. Prawn is big and fresh. Gravy has a bit hint of chilli crab source.
The yong tau foo is not to my taste, unfortunately.
Want to try the bitter gourd pork rib but it was sold out before 7pm.
Overall, it is a nice Zi Char place with slightly higher price
Food is passable. Like most other good zi char. What sets them apart is the constant lousy service and stuck up attitude. So if you can stomach this constant. Do visit!
Really bad service, really rude and they have the don’t care attitude to customers. It is not really clean. Not cheap, with the same amount of money you can have a decent dinner anywhere else.
Excellent Chinese Zhi Char for economical prices! The Resturant also boast a BYOB policy! But be sure to clean up after you go! Must try’s are the clay pot Yong tau foo, Har cheong kai, curry fish tail and slice fish sum lor Hor fun.
