Ordered both the white and black types. They served very generous portions and lots of egg for both. I feel the white one was a little bland for me.the black has too much garlic and can make do with a little more dark sauce. Affordable price of $3 minimum.

Usually I will not have fried carrot cake for lunch but i saw quite a number of good reviews and when i reach around 12.30pm+. I still get to eat without much waiting. The friendly uncle ask me to have a seat and he will served me when is ready. When he served me the plate of black carrot cake, i am positive all the good review is true. Just to my liking, the carrot cake is done slightly to the crispy side rather than the soft mushy type and the egg is added quite generously too.

The Google ratings seem high but it’s not exactly what I had in mind. We ordered a plate of $4 black and a plate of $5 white carrot cake and then shared them. (They don’t do black and white mix)

I find the black carrot cake rather bland and not sweet enough as black carrot cake should be. There’s also abit too much eggs fried with the black version. The white carrot cake is okay but some parts were saltier than other bites. My friends noticed that too.

They use more egg, so I find the egg and carrot cake balance off - there are more rougher bites of the egg than the softer bites of carrot cake. Feels like I’m eating egg omelette with carrot cake bits than having a traditional carrot cake dish.

So I’m not sure what to feel about this carrot cake except that I’m not a fan.

Today, when I visit Geylang East hawker centre, and I'm attracted by this highlighted "Traditional" in their signatures. Surely, I want to try how good the difference of traditional flavour and taste. 传统古早好味道,美味加分味难忘。当我看到标榜着祖传的招牌,我就决定尝试一下到底有多不同。处在芽龙东的小贩中心,是个旧区住着很多老居民,能够以老传统味道自居很不简单。

Price is very affordable, small portion only charged $3 each, and the food portion is really decent, definitely able to satisfy an adult craving. Their white version fried Carrots Cake really taste so good, full of Wok-Hey, not oily, but very eggy with red and white carrot ingredients. Old couple owner really a fried carrot cake masterchef.

As for black version fried carrot cake was really different. If you like slight burn, sweet and smaller cake size, and less eggy taste, definitely black version suit you. Both are good, but personally I prefer white version. 而黑色版本就为了专吃酱油的香甜,蛋香就会被酱油甜味掩盖,其实都不错,但我很高兴我点了白色无酱油味的版本。

With such good reviews in map, and they earn it. No regrets. Recommended. 这样高的好评价的确不是虚假的,这味道的确对得起这标榜着老传统的招牌。好吃!值得推荐!

Old skool traditional charcoal wokhei style carrot cake. Will be good if can mix the sambal chilli into the kueh while frying the kueh. The chilli is add on top of the kueh.

A well balanced between crispy and the "cake". Cannot complain when I have the best of both worlds in one plate.

Fried black carrot cake is nice. Thick dark sauce with soft carrot cake make great combination.

One of the best fried carrot cake in Singapore, in my opinion. I'm not a fan of wet and mushy looking carrot cake and this stall offers the best version of the 'black version'.

Highly recommended for a satisfying breakfast before starting your day.

My type of fried black carrot cake, not oily, little burnt with Wok Hei. Not many left in Singapore. The lady owner was very friendly too.

This stall is old school and we are glad we explored Upper BK FC to discover this place. Stall owner is friendly and efficient OMO (lady stall owner). The usual black and white available. Pricing reasonable at $2-3 range. We tried the white one. Waves of customers come so be prepared to wait a bit. Sedap!

Have been eating this for years. Close quite early so do come before 12. Love the dark carrot cake because of the sweetness. Uncle was sick for quite Long so the auntie took over with the uncle supervising her. Still as good!

Excellent if not one of the best carrot cake I've had in recent years so far! Has an old school taste, traditional indeed!

As the name suggests, this is an old school, traditional carrot cake. Manned by an elderly lady, she fries the dish with gusto.
Into the hot pan goes oil and later chopped garlic. When it's fragrant, she adds a bucket load of carrot cake and lets it crisp. She then adds handfuls of shredded carrot (yes, the orange ones) and pickled radish (chye por)
Upon your order (black or white) she will then add eggs (lots of it) and the black sweet sauce, if required.
A piping hot, fragrant plate is then served with chopped spring onions.
I bet your mouth is watering by now.
Order appropriately $2.00, $2.50 or $3.00.
I suggest $3.00 - you won't regret it.
She seems a little grumpy & impatient at first but far from it. She cracks a smile every now and then - especially when confirming order.

Homemade 'white carrot' cake, lovingly fried, at old school prices. Both black and white are killer!
