Chinatown Complex reviews
49Plenty of good and delicious food, for breakfast, chee cheong fun, curry yong tau foo noodle, bowl kueh (hard to find in singapore nowadays), HK style porridge and many more. Lunch and dinner, you can get soya sauce chicken, steam fishhead, black vinegar pig trotters and of course claypot rice. Downside is during the hot months, this place is like a oven in the afternoon.
Favourite place to explore for traditional local food. Hopefully this place will remain in days to come.
You want to experience the real Chinatown, you gotta visit this place.
The rest of Chinatown has already been infiltrated by mainland Chinese. Chinatown Complex is probably the last stronghold of local Chinese food and culture.
I went there to patronise Jin Ji Teochew Braised Duck & Kway-chap at 02-156. As I am recovering from gout, me n my wife ordered kway-chap for 2 at $9/-
Portion just nice. Even tabao back for daughter.
Boss Melvin Chew is friendly and accommodating.
Nice atmosphere if you come here, there is a shopping center and food court too.
Apart from that, in the afternoon there are lots of local activities, such as dancing and hanging out with friends.
It was the first day of new year and a public holiday. Go Chinatown was a good choice. The moment I stepped into the market as if I was bathing in a pool of red sea, feeling super refreshing. Red is auspicious in Chinese culture, and it does. Rat and mouse stuffed toys are displayed every corner, sensing the year of rat is on the way.
Going for a lunch there must prepare to queue. At a popular shao la (烧腊) store, the queue was so long that you have to prepared to wait for hours to get the plate of rice. I gave up the Q. Prefer to come some other day.
Singapore Chinatown is one of the oldest place in Singapore history, the hawker centre at Smith Street is one my favourite place, you can find a big variety of local food there!
This is a fun place to wonder around and enjoy the atmosphere. Can find cool trinkets for your friends and family. Be sure to Make a deal first so don't over pay on items. Avoid the ones who hassle you, just not nice and super rude.
Chinatown hawker & food centre offers many choices for you. Many hawkers are doing business for more than one generation. Convenient to come by Public transport. Ample carpark. You will be spoilt for choices, even coming daily to eat with friends or family.
This is one of the bigger hawker centre found in Singapore. There are many no-frills and authentic local dishes like char Kway teow, chicken rice, etc. And most of the dishes tasted really good. A good place to soak yourself in the local dining culture.
This is an ultimate traditional Singapore market. The wet market that sells raw food is in the basement and level 1 are sundry stalls that sells Everyday household items and clothes. Level 2 is Sprawling food market where the world’s first cheapest Michelin star meal is home to. One of the best authentic experiences you can find
One of the most famous hawker centers in SG.
This hawker has been renovated for a few times until the Chinatown Complex plaque went missing.
It was set up since 1983. This is one of the landmarks. Some stalls have been reported by Channel 8. Then you know there are hidden dragons inside.
There are 703 stalls in these 2 decks. Level 2 is like maze. Pro foodies must visit this place to grab local flavors and early taste.
Went there to have dinner with wife enroute to a makeshift roadside karaoke. Have claypot vinegar trotter and claypot mixed sesame together with two bowls of rice. Cost $12.30. Generous serving for both the claypot. Taste good worth the price.
Wonderful collections of good food! You’ll be amazed by the quantity as well as the quality of food there!
Spend good time with family or friends there cuz everyone can find his/her fav food there?
Full of Chinese stuff and lots more. Quite soft on the pocket. Souvenirs and more. Had quite an interesting time though didnt find all I needed has to go to another place but by and large it was a cool place. They had lots of places to eat, Chinese food especially and others.
Delicious, affordable and local. You will be spoilt for choice if you are into Singaporean Chinese delicacies. Housed on the second floor of this multi-use complex is a hawker centre. Unlike the more famous Maxwell Market a street away, you can dine comfortably without office crowd and tourists. Mostly visited by elderly who have fond memories of this place.
This Hong ji zi char stall openly touts for customers. But there is a big sign right beside it says ' no touting'. If you don't take, the stall guy really gives me a hard look. NEA, please go and catch this stall. Bad for the image of Singapore.
You can find anything in this market, from dresses to souvenirs, vegetables, fruit, many restaurants, oh my favourite dish there is salted yolk egg crab, it is a little expensive but it has a unique flavour, if you can, try it
